The Sacred Offering of the Chadar

Just as the blessed Kaaba Shareef is veiled with a Gilaaf—a sacred cloth of reverence and honor—so too is the Dargāh of Khwāja Syed Moinuddin Hasan Chishtī adorned with offerings of love from the hearts of his devoted lovers. It is said that Hazrat Ibrāhīm (peace be upon him) was the first to drape the Gilaaf upon the House of Allah, establishing a tradition of deep adab (respect) and symbolic protection.

At the spiritual court of Khwāja Gharib Nawāz—the beloved of the poor and helper of the broken-hearted—devotees from all walks of life come with chādars in hand, as a humble Nazrānā-e-‘Aqīdat (gift of devotion). Whether a king or a commoner, all are equal here. The silver fence surrounding the Mazār Sharīf was a gift of love from Emperor Shāh Jahān himself, bearing witness to the enduring majesty of Khwāja Baba’s presence.

In this blessed sanctuary, burdens are lightened, hearts are healed, and seekers find solace. Whether it is distress, financial hardship, illness, black magic, or restlessness of the soul, Khwāja Gharib Nawāz—sent as a mercy through the spiritual chain of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—offers healing through divine love and grace (faiz).

About the Sacred Chādars:

  1. Length of Devotion: This special chādar is 42 meters long, enveloping the entire Mazār-e-Muqaddas, and is lovingly known as the Libās of the Mazār Pāk.
  2. Offerings of Love: Along with the chādar, fragrant gulāb (roses), ’itr (natural perfume), and rosewater are lovingly offered as signs of reverence.
  3. Sacred Embroidery: Embroidered with verses from Surah Yāsīn, the names of the Panjetan Pāk, and sanctified names like Makkah, Madīnah, and Ajmer Sharīf, some chādars feature embellishments in silver thread, pearls, and zari work—reflecting the depth of the devotee’s love.
  4. One by One, With Names and Prayers: Each 42-meter chādar is presented individually and blessed with du‘ā on behalf of the devotee by name. After offering, it is respectfully preserved in the Darbār’s designated place.
  5. According to Capacity: Whether a large chādar or a small one, every offering is accepted with open arms. Smaller chādars are often sent to other Dargāhs around the world to share the barakah (blessing).
  6. Urs or Any Day: You may offer your heartfelt gift on the luminous occasion of Urs Mubārak or any day your soul feels drawn to the Darbār. The gates of Khwāja Baba’s love are always open.
